I am not affiliated with Alesis I am just a user with some engineering background.The Alesis Multimix 12R is a high-quality, rack-mountable input, stereo output audio mixer. This is more like a design error than a manufacturing one. Loosen a screw on both units and attach a wire between them and tighten the screws again or alternatively use an alligator clip with one end on the metal of where the power supply connects to the mixer and the other end on some bare metal in the back of your computer. Grounding mixer chassis to computer chassis may help somewhat. People do not report Alesis support being much help. If I do not connect USB, I do not hear that.
